ALUMINUM SAND CASTINGS

Aluminum is a highly versatile and designable metal. As one of the most cost-efficient and light-weight metals available for production, aluminum is naturally resistant to corrosion and is a conductive metal. These properties make it an excellent metal choice for a wide variety of industrial purposes.

Our casting process: sand is mixed with chemicals and formed into patterns using pressure and vibration techniques. Molten aluminum is poured into the cavity of the mold where cores are often strategically placed to create hollow spaces inside the casting, often to reduce the casting’s weight. The metal is allowed to cool and harden. The sand and cores are then removed, revealing the new metal casting. Each casting is finished and made ready for the next step in production.

Our castings are made from a range of certified aluminum alloys.

MACHINED PARTS

Once your aluminum castings have been manufactured, machining options are available. In this process, parts are refined into final products. Drilling, boring, threading, turning and milling options are available. We also have the capacity to machine other metals and plastics.

At Ermak, we won’t bore you with a long list of the machines we have in our shop. And that’s probably a good thing, since the list is actually pretty long and our machining capabilities are constantly being upgraded to the latest technological advances and automation. We continually invest in our machine shop, assuring the widest range of production capacities, exceptional quality, fast turnaround time, and competitive production costs for our customers.

FINISHING

Following casting and machining, Ermak has many finishing options for your newly manufactured parts. Finishing creates visually attractive surfaces and also helps reduce corrosion or other deterioration. Choose from the following finishing options:

Annodize
Paint
Polish
Plate
Powder Coat
Grind
Heat Treat

In order to preserve quality and meet our customers’ needs for quick turnaround, Ermak generally does not coordinate subassembly services. Occasionally we are able to accommodate these types requests so please don’t be shy when inquiring about our current workload status and subassembly options.
